SPARS 2013 Signal Processing with Adaptive Sparse Structured Representations.

Volkan Cevher sent me the following:

Dear Igor,

....As you know, EPFL will be hosting SPARS next year (http://spars2013.epfl.ch). I think it will be a great meeting.
As your blog reaches quite a few of our intended audience, I would really appreciate it if you could feature our call for papers for SPARS in your blog.
....
Thanks a lot!

sure thing Volkan ! The call for paper lists the following:

Call for Papers

Please join us for SPARS 2013 in Lausanne, Switzerland
The Signal Processing with Adaptive Sparse Structured Representations SPARS workshop seeks novel ideas and results, both experimental and theoretical, for adaptive sparse representations, sampling and computational methods for high-dimensional data that feature structured combinatorial and geometric foundations.
SPARS 2013 will take place on the EPFL campus from July 8 to July 11, 2013. In addition to 8 plenary lectures and a special lecture by Ronald DeVore, the workshop features a single track format with 36 standard (20min) talks, 3 highlight (30min) talks, and a poster and demo session.
Contributions are solicited in one page abstract in double column SPARS workshop abstract format. This year, we specifically welcome abstract submissions for technological demonstrations of the mathematical topics within our scope.
Contributions to the workshop are solicited in the following areas:
  • Sparse coding and representations, vector quantization, and dictionary learning
  • Sparse and low-rank approximation algorithms: performance and complexity analysis, new methodologies
  • Compressive sensing and learning: new theory and methods
  • Feature extraction, classification, detection, and source separation
  • Sparsity measures in approximation theory, information theory and statistics
  • Big data applications including but not limited to geophysics, neuroscience, biomedical imaging, array processing, genetics, optics and radar, and feedback control
A best student paper prize will be awarded. Students who wish to be considered for this prize must submit a six page extended summary in single column workshop format as supplementary material. To be eligible, the main contributor of the work must be a student or must have recently graduated (i.e., after SPARS 2011). The supplementary six page summaries will be used to award the prize, and will not be included in the SPARS 2013 proceedings.
Submitted contributions should be of sufficient depth for review by experts in the field. The submission deadline is January 15, 2013, at midnight, Central European Time. Notification of acceptance is sent by April 24, 2013.
Detailed information on paper submission is given in the Information for Authors page.
