Also, if you recall Sunday Morning Insight: QTT format and the TT-Toolbox -implementation- where I mentioned why the QTT format might be a game changer of sorts. It happens that the authors of that toolbox (originally in Matlab) also released a Python version of it. It is on GitHub.
