Position title: Postdoctoral Research Associate (ECE Department at the University of Arizona)
Position summary:
The DARPA Knowledge Enhanced Compressive Measurement (KECoM) project has the primary goals of 1) developing a mathematical framework for incorporating prior knowledge of tasks and observed signals into the design of compressive sensors, and 2) applying this framework to relevant sensing modalities. The UA anticipates a KECoM award to support investigation of information-theoretic techniques for sensor optimization under prior knowledge, as well as application to a compressive spread-spectrum receiver, a compressive radar transmitter/receiver, and a compressive spectral imager.
* Two to three postdoctoral researchers will be hired for the DARPA KECoM effort
* Occasional travel may be required
* Original postdoctoral appointment is for one year with renewal possible for up to a total of three years
Duties and responsibilities:
* Provide advanced technical expertise in RF compressive receiver design/engineering OR compressive spectral imager design/engineering
* Provide advanced technical expertise in compressive sensor modeling AND/OR hardware demonstration systems
* Day-to-day technical supervision of other UA program technical staff
* Periodic reporting and documentation as required by program timeline
Additional minimum qualifications:
* Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Optical Sciences/Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Physics, OR related discipline
* Demonstrated experience in RF receiver design and modeling, spectral imager design and modeling, AND/OR signal processing or related disciplines
* Demonstrated ability for independent research with associated publication record
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Preferred qualifications:
* Experience in compressive sensing
* Experience in spread-spectrum/SIGINT receiver design and implementation
* Experience in radar target recognition
* Experience in information theory
* Experience with MATLAB
* Experience in numerical optimization techniques
* Experience with one or more high-level programming languages (C, C++, etc.)
