Upon a commenter's remark on the obvious need for mentioning statistics, I just updated the mental picture of the communities involved in contributing to compressive sensing. This is version 0.2, anybody has a better one?

To be honest, I think that the plot is not very clear. May be something along the lines of this Venn diagram (from the book Elements of Information Theory, by Cover and Thomas):

could be more illustrative.
Alejandro,
Thanks.
The intent is also to show the size of the communities and how they overlap with each other at the limit. The other intent is really to put in perspective how deep one can go either on the theory or on the applied side and cross through several communities.
Perhaps a 2-D plot allowing richer overlaps btw communities ?
Something else: I like the new template of Nuit Blanche. However, perhaps it is just me, I find your blog slower and slower to load (and to scroll up/down) with time. Perhaps is it due to the large number of images/applets? It seems to me that wordpress is nevertheless less slow than blogs supported on blogger.com
Best

Laurent,

There is an overlap as all the bell curves are not starting at zero. I guess I need to be putting something in there to show that indeed individuals can touch on several subjects.

I changed it so that it would display only 10 entries as opposed to 30. I also reshaped the width of the main blog. It should be less slow, do you see a difference ?
Also part of the issue is that the side column uploads content of different blogs of interest. I don't want NB to be slow but part of the attraction is to quickly choose to read other people's blog based on the title and the beginning of the post itself. I certainly don't want to alter that experience.
Thanks for the feedback!
Cheers,
Igor.
Hello Igor,
By 2-D I meant kind of 2-D blobs overlapping at different point ... well it is probably hard to draw and hard to model.
For the rest, the website is now less slow once fully loaded. Thanks.
It would be nice if these blogger.com applets, which are downloading other blog contents would perform this operation at fixed frequency, e.g. one/two download(s) per day, while displaying a copy of the download most of the time to the blog readers.
Best,
Jack
Jack,
Thanks for the feedback.
As for the blogger applet frequency it's really beyond my control. I wish I could tweak it like you said.
Cheers,
Igor.
