There are many ways for your work to get noticed. Submitting a preprint to ArXiv is one, presenting at conferences is another. But once you have done that or if the conference is too far in the future, you may, for different reasons such as building your own brand, host a webpage containing examples featured in your paper. Yet, there is this little voice inside you asking: Once I built it, will they come ?
Most probably they will but it may take some time. Here are ways to accelerate this process and make your work noticeable by search engines and others.
- You can let me know about your work in an email that has to provide some information beyond the abstract. I should be able to feature it fast if the subject areas aligns the themes of Nuit Blanche. Please note that I will pay a specific interest if you feature an implementation of your work.
- If you are very busy or shy or both, you can use the Sparseman signal, it's a little bit like the Bat signal except instead of shining the clouds of Gotham city, you get to do it on the interwebs. In short, when you build your page, add Nuit Blanche as a link in the page and use that link to come to Nuit Blanche. I usually look at referrer links to discover new pages. Recent instances of that include pages of Ming Yan or Emmanuel Candes' A2I page, If you have a blog, you can also add Nuit Blanche to your blog roll like Larry Wasserman, Andrew Gelman and Terry Tao did before. Finally, you can tweet your page and mention me in the tweet.
- You can also mention your webpage, work and preprint directly on either
- the Google+ Community (Defeating the Tsunami of Data one algorithm at a time)
- the CompressiveSensing subreddit
- the LinkedIn Compressive Sensing group
- the LinkedIn Advanced Matrix Factorization Group
- You can also ask me to add your work in Big Picture in Compressive Sensing or the Matrix Factorization Jungle. Please pay attention that I usually feature mostly work that have implementation associated with it.
Of note:
In the coming month, LinkedIn groups such as the Compressive Sensing group will not accept RSS feeds anymore which means that it might be wise to directly subscribe to Nuit Blanche's feed or register you email and get new entries directly in your mailbox, enter your email address here (and press subscribe):
