Very interesting topic! I am just starting to read up on it. However I wonder if you have any specific sources on doing the reverse. Ie having an image with large resolution, doing an l1 minimization and then storing the compressed image. Is this technology already used in some image formats ? (ECW, MrSID, JPEG ???)
