The 2-bit Aggie Weather Station

Much before the folks at Rice looked into 1-bit compressive sensing, we, in Aggieland, already had low bit sensors such as this beautiful and awesome 2-bit weather station.

Yes, it's a brick. 

If you want to get fancy, you can also add a webcam to the set-up but the brick is pretty essential. The main condition is that it has to be located outside with no shielding from the elements. 

How does it work ? Three conditions can be embedded in two bits of information. 

• If the brick is dark brown, it's a sure sign that it's raining outside. 
• If the brick is bright, then it's sunny outside. 
• If the brick is not there anymore, it's a tornado.
