PostDoc on Terahertz Imaging and Compressive Sensing.

Lu Gan just let me know of a postdoc position opening on compressive sensing for terahertz imaging. I am due with a blog entry on Randy's blog on terahertz imaging and compressive sensing. So, Randy if you read this, I have not forgotten you :-). Here is the announcement, please note the closing date for applicants. I'll add this announcement shortly on Compressive Sensing jobs page.
Postdoctoral Research Assistant
Brunel University - School of Engineering and Design

Vacancy ref DEA0474-1
Full-time, Fixed term contract for 1 year
recruitdea@brunel.ac.uk

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work on the EPSRC project "Structured sampling operators for compressive terahertz imaging".

The main purpose of this post is to design fast signal processing algorithms for terahertz imaging systems based on newly developed compressed sensing theory. Most existing time-domain terahertz imaging systems are limited by slow scanning speed and high implementation cost. Compressed sensing theory has the potential to provide simple hardware implementation and better imaging efficiency. The project will explore the feasibility of such a technique and design and evaluate a proof of concept compressive terahertz imaging camera.

The suitable applicant should have a PhD (or have recently submitted the thesis) in engineering, computer science or related discipline, and a strong background in signal processing. Working knowledge of terahertz imaging is desirable.

The post is full time for 12 months starting from 1st Nov. 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter. Starting salary will be in the range £29,792 - £32,751 per annum plus £2,166 per annum London Weighting.

Closing date for applications: 18th August 2011
