In a sort of way, this
postmortem reminded me of
Rendez-vous with Rama, or the
desert of the Tartars. In either of these novels, the hero is waiting for something to happen and it never does. In the postmortem article, the sense is, you cannot rely on looking for funding while building your business, because it is a full time job which takes all your time away from the most important thing: building a business. On top of it, it has a very unattractive return on investment, a similar conclusion is reached in
this book. The main lesson out of this is: when starting a business, make money from day one, you cannot afford not to.
